preemptive strikes
Tonight, I refer you to the Simpsons episode that spoofs the X-files. If you're wandering around my blog, you've probably seen it. An alien (actually Mr. Burns) emerges from the woods:
GLOWING ALIEN: I bring you love!
LENNY: It's bringing love...don't let it get away!
CARL: Break its legs!
This little exchange more or less describes all my failed relationships. Now you just have to figure out if I'm the alien or not.

carl. absolutely.
In terms of preemptive strikes, you want to look to Moe, seeing the Feds, assuming they're there for the orca, and acting accordingly, thus running across the feds when they weren't there for him...
